Developmentally Appropriate practice & program goals

Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) refers to doing what is right in terms of care and educational experiences that are age-appropriate and individually appropriate. Christianity and DAP are the very foundation of our program.

According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the organization that defines best practices in the field of early childhood education, "Developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) is a framework of principles and guidelines for best practice in the care and education of young children, birth through age 8. It is grounded both in the research on how young children develop and learn and in what is known about education effectiveness. The principles and guidelines outline practice that promotes young children's optimal learning and development."

Knowing that the most critical years of a child's brain development occurs during the early years, our curriculum, philosophy, and highly qualified teachers provide a rich developmentally appropriate environment with engaging activities (e.g., science, early math skills, emergent literacy, social, creative arts, and physical development) that will give your child the foundation for a lifetime interest in learning. Utilizing Creative Curriculum, our PreK program is aligned with Santa Rosa County's Kindergarten Readiness Checklist. These lessons are then modified accordingly for the younger classrooms. All of our children receive formal assessments quarterly. In our center, you will see children who are
  • Creating and learning through play, stories, and music
  • Experimenting and discovering with a variety of engaging materials
  • Making choices for themselves
  • Developing positive character traits such as self-control, kindness, and respect for others
  • Developing an awareness of Jesus Christ and His Role in our lives

You will also see happy teachers!
